今日のテーマは 日本のチェーンレストランです
みなさんはチェーンのレストランに 行ったことがありますか?
レストランとかカフェとか 日本にも 世界にもいろいろなチェーンがありますね
今日は 日本で 人気のチェーンのランキングを 見ながらいろんなジャンルのレストランについて 話そうと 思います
まずはファミリーレストラン 部門です
ファミリーレストランは 名前の 通りファミリーのためのレストランです
子供のためのメニューがあったり 洋食 和食 関係なくいろんなメニューがあります
ファミリーレストランの 代表といえばサイゼリヤです
聞いたことがありますか?
緑の 看板に 赤い 文字 日本のいろんなところにあります
サイゼリヤの 特徴はまずイタリアっぽいです
イタリアっぽい 名前のメニューがたくさんあります
ミラノ 風ドリアとかミートソースボロニア 風とか
ただたぶんイタリア 人が 食べたらこれのどこがイタリア 料理なの?ってなると 思います
何がミラノなの?ってなると 思います
でもこのサイゼリヤのすばらしいところはとにかく 安い
もう 意味がわからないぐらい 安いです
例えばさっき 話したミラノ 風ドリア
これはすごく 人気のメニューで 普通においしいです
私も 食べたことがありますけどおいしいです
値段はなんと300 円
300 円ちょうど
どういうこと? レストランですよ
300 円っていうと 今のレートで2ドルです
2ドルぐらいです
そしてサイゼリヤのもう 一つの 特徴 私が 好きなポイントは 間違い 探しです
間違い探し このゲーム知ってますか?
2つの絵があります
この絵はほとんど同じに見えます
でも違うところが例えば5つ5個あります
2つの絵の違うところを5個見つけるゲームです
多分皆さん1回はやったことがありますよね
この間違い探しゲームがサイゼリヤのテーブルに置いてあります
メニューと一緒に置いてあります
これがねえ難しいんですよ
激ムズなんですよ
だいたい料理が来るまでに間違いを全部見つけられません
だいたい最後の一つとか二つがすごく難しいですね
全然見つけられません
でもそのおかげで料理がすごく早く来たように感じます
子供騙しの遊びじゃなくて大人も真剣にできます
皆さんもサイゼリヤに行ったらやってみてくださいね
ちなみにこのランキングの中でファミリーレストラン部門でサイゼリヤは店舗数(これはお店の数)が2位でした
1位のチェーンはガストです
ガストも人気です
ガストはもっと普通のファミリーレストランです
ハンバーグとかチキングリルとかが多いです
次は和食部門です
和食のチェーンで日本で一番数が多いレストランはすき家です
すき家知ってますか?
牛丼のチェーンです
牛丼はご飯の上に牛肉と玉ねぎをのせた食べ物です
この牛丼のチェーンが日本にはたくさんあります
すき家が1位
2位が吉野家 3位が松屋です
ベスト3は全部牛丼チェーンでした
4位は丸亀製麺です
丸亀製麺はうどんのチェーンです
好きなうどんを選んでその後に好きなトッピング天ぷらを選べます
さつまいもの天ぷらかぼちゃの天ぷらとか好きなだけトッピングをのせられます
おいしくて安いです
和食チェーンランキング5位はスシローです
スシローはお寿司のチェーンです
5位6位7位は全部寿司のチェーンです
この寿司のチェーンは普通においしいです
まあすごくおいしいわけではないんですけど今日寿司が食べたいなっていう気分の時に行くと満足できます
しかも安いし 気軽に行けます
日本ではカレーのチェーンも人気です
日本で一番店舗数が多いカレー屋はココイチです
CoCo壱番屋です
ココイチは好きなカレーを選んでさらにトッピングを選べて辛さも選ぶことができます
自分が好きなようにアレンジしやすいです
そしてラーメン餃子のチェーンも人気です
ラーメン餃子部門1位は餃子の王将です
まあこれは納得ですね
餃子の王将は一応ジャンルは中華料理です
でも偽物の中華料理です
中国に行ったら王将のメニューにある食べ物はありません
特に天津飯っていう名前のメニューがあります
天津それは中国の都市の名前なんですけど天津に行ってもこの料理はありません
日本で生まれたみたいです
そんな王将なんですけど餃子がねやっぱり美味しいです
私は時々王将の餃子が突然食べたくなって買います
王将は安くて量が多いので学生の時に助かりましたね
高校生の時とか王将に行ってたくさん食べていました
あと学生の時にお世話になったのはサイゼリヤですね
サイゼリヤは本当にありがたかったですね
この餃子の王将なんですけどすごく似ている名前の大阪王将というチェーンもあります
これはランキング5位に入っています
この2つのチェーンの関係はadidasとpumaみたいな関係ですね
もともと1つだったけどいろいろあって2つに分かれたチェーンです
あとは8位に天下一品が入っています
天下一品は京都で生まれたチェーンです
ラーメンのチェーンです
天下一品も私は子供の時によく行きました
天下一品の特徴はスープが2種類あってあっさりとこってりを選ぶことができます
あっさりは重くない軽い感じですね
こってりはガツンと重い濃い味です
その時の気分に合わせてスープを選ぶことができます
あと限定メニューか裏メニューかわかりませんがこってりとあっさりのミックス「こっさり」っていう特別なものもあります
次は定食部門です
定食屋さんです
定食というのはご飯と例えば魚とかお肉とかメインのおかずと味噌汁とあといろんなご飯に合うお漬物とかがセットになっているメニューです
1位はやよい軒です
2位は大戸屋です
この2つは似ています
やよい軒はご飯がおかわり自由です
大学の近くにあったので時々行った記憶があります
そしてこのやよい軒と大戸屋は海外の大きい都市に時々あります
もうこのチェーンに助けられました
海外でどうしてもご飯が食べたい日本の食べ物が食べたいっていう時に近くにこのやよい軒か大戸屋があったらすごく嬉しくなります
ありがたい存在です
次はファーストフードです
店舗数ランキング1位はマクドナルドです
はいゴリゴリに海外です
ただその次に人気なのはモスバーガーです
モスバーガーは大体のアメリカ人の人は嫌いって言います
日本人は好きです
モスバーガーは日本で生まれたハンバーガーのチェーンです
皆さんも食べてみてください
次はケンタッキーフライドチキン
日本人がクリスマスに食べるものですね
これもやっぱり人気です
次は居酒屋ランキングです
居酒屋チェーンランキング1位は鳥貴族です
鳥貴族学生の時に行きました
まあ普通においしくて安いです
いつもにぎやかなお店です
そしてスイーツ部門
店舗数1位はサーティーワンです
多分海外ではバスキン・ロビンスですね
2位はミスタードーナツです
ミスタードーナツは日本のドーナツのチェーンです
他のドーナツのチェーンクリスピークリームドーナツとかもあるんですけどミスタードーナツはもうちょっと甘さが控えめ
甘さが少なくて日本人には人気です
私はミスタードーナツではオールドファッションが一番好きです
3位は銀座コージーコーナーです
これ関西では見なかったんですけど東京に来てから本当によく見ます
いろんなところでこのケーキ屋さんスイーツショップを見ます
そして5位にシャトレーゼが入っています
シャトレーゼは都会に住んでいる人は知らないかもしれません
日本の車でしか行けないところによくあります
電車で簡単に行ける場所にはたぶんありません
見たことがありません
このシャトレーゼはアイスクリームの種類がすごいです
結構ね子供の時いろんなアイスを見るのが好きでした

Today's theme is chain restaurants in Japan.
Have you ever been to a chain restaurant?
There are many chain restaurants and cafes in Japan and around the world.
Today I'd like to talk about different genres of restaurants while looking at the rankings of popular chains in Japan.
First, let's start with the family restaurant category.
As the name suggests, family restaurants are restaurants for families.
They have menus for children and offer various dishes including both Western and Japanese food.
The representative of family restaurants would be Saizeriya.
Have you heard of it?
It has a green sign with red text and can be found in many places in Japan.
One characteristic of Saizeriya is that it's quite Italian-like.
There are many menu items with Italian-sounding names.
Like Milano-style doria or Bologna-style meat sauce.
But if an Italian person ate there, they'd probably wonder, "How is this Italian cuisine?"
They'd wonder, "What's Milanese about this?"
But the wonderful thing about Saizeriya is that it's just so cheap.
It's unbelievably cheap.
For example, the Milano-style doria I mentioned before.
This is a very popular menu item and it tastes pretty good.
I've eaten it before and it's delicious.
The price is just 300 yen.
Exactly 300 yen.
How is that possible? This is a restaurant!
300 yen is about 2 dollars at the current exchange rate.
About 2 dollars.
Another feature of Saizeriya and a point I like is the spot-the-difference game.
Do you know the spot-the-difference game? There are two pictures.
These pictures look almost identical.
But there are, for example, 5 differences between them.
It's a game where you find the 5 differences between the two pictures.
I'm sure most of you have played it at least once, right?
This spot-the-difference game is placed on the tables at Saizeriya.
It's placed alongside the menu.
And you know what? It's difficult.
It's extremely difficult.
Usually, you can't find all the differences before your food arrives.
The last one or two differences are usually very hard to find.
You just can't find them at all.
But thanks to that, it feels like your food arrives very quickly.
It's not just a game to distract children; adults can seriously get into it too.
If you go to Saizeriya, please give it a try.
By the way, in this ranking, Saizeriya was ranked second in the family restaurant category in terms of number of stores.
The chain ranked number one is Gusto.
Gusto is also popular.
Gusto is a more typical family restaurant.
They serve a lot of hamburger steaks and grilled chicken.
Next is the Japanese food category.
The restaurant chain with the most locations in Japan in the Japanese food category is Sukiya.
Have you heard of Sukiya? It's a beef bowl chain.
Beef bowl is a dish where beef and onions are placed on top of rice.
There are many beef bowl chains in Japan.
Sukiya is ranked first, Yoshinoya is second, and Matsuya is third.
The top three are all beef bowl chains.
Fourth place is Marugame Seimen.
Marugame Seimen is an udon noodle chain.
You can choose your preferred udon and then select your favorite toppings and tempura.
Sweet potato tempura, pumpkin tempura, you can add as many toppings as you like.
It's delicious and affordable.
In the Japanese food chain ranking, Sushiro is fifth.
Sushiro is a sushi chain.
The fifth, sixth, and seventh places are all sushi chains.
These sushi chains are reasonably delicious.
Well, they're not incredibly delicious, but when you're in the mood for sushi, they'll satisfy you.
Plus, they're cheap and casual to visit.
Curry chains are also popular in Japan.
The curry restaurant with the most locations in Japan is CoCo Ichibanya.
It's CoCo Ichibanya.
At CoCo Ichibanya, you can choose your curry, then select toppings, and even choose the spice level.
It's easy to customize according to your preferences.
Ramen and gyoza chains are also popular.
In the ramen and gyoza category, Gyoza no Ohsho is ranked first.
Well, that makes sense.
Gyoza no Ohsho is technically in the Chinese cuisine genre.
But it's fake Chinese cuisine.
If you go to China, you won't find the foods on Ohsho's menu.
Especially a menu item called "Tenshinhan."
Tenshin is the name of a city in China, but even if you go to Tenshin, you won't find this dish.
It seems it was born in Japan.
Despite that, Ohsho's gyoza dumplings are definitely delicious.
Sometimes I suddenly crave Ohsho's gyoza and buy them.
Ohsho is cheap and serves large portions, so it was really helpful during my student days.
When I was in high school, I used to go to Ohsho and eat a lot.
Another place that helped me during my student days was Saizeriya.
Saizeriya was really a blessing.
Speaking of Gyoza no Ohsho, there's another chain with a very similar name called Osaka Ohsho.
It's ranked fifth in the rankings.
The relationship between these two chains is like that of Adidas and Puma.
They were originally one chain but split into two after various circumstances.
Also, Tenkaippin is ranked eighth.
Tenkaippin is a ramen chain born in Kyoto.
I used to go to Tenkaippin a lot when I was a child.
A characteristic of Tenkaippin is that there are two types of soup, and you can choose between "assari" (light) and "kotteri" (rich).
"Assari" is not heavy, it's light.
"Kotteri" is heavy with a strong flavor.
You can choose the soup according to your mood.
Also, there's a special option, maybe a limited menu or a secret menu, I'm not sure, but it's a mix of "kotteri" and "assari" called "kossari."
Next is the set meal category.
Set meal restaurants.
A set meal consists of rice, a main dish like fish or meat, miso soup, and various pickles and side dishes that go well with rice.
Yayoi Ken is ranked first.
Ootoya is ranked second.
These two are similar.
At Yayoi Ken, you can get free rice refills.
I remember occasionally going there because it was near my university.
And these chains, Yayoi Ken and Ootoya, can sometimes be found in large cities overseas.
These chains have been a lifesaver.
When you desperately want to eat Japanese food abroad, if there's a Yayoi Ken or Ootoya nearby, it makes you so happy.
They're a blessing.
Next is fast food.
McDonald's is ranked first in terms of number of stores.
Yes, it's entirely foreign.
However, the next most popular is Mos Burger.
Most Americans say they don't like Mos Burger.
Japanese people like it.
Mos Burger is a hamburger chain born in Japan.
You should try it too.
Next is Kentucky Fried Chicken.
This is what Japanese people eat at Christmas.
It's quite popular too.
Next is the izakaya (Japanese pub) ranking.
Torikizoku is ranked first in the izakaya chain ranking.
I went to Torikizoku when I was a student.
Well, it's reasonably delicious and cheap.
It's always a lively place.
And now the sweets category.
Thirty-One Ice Cream is ranked first in terms of number of stores.
It's probably known as Baskin-Robbins overseas.
Mister Donut is ranked second.
Mister Donut is a Japanese donut chain.
There are other donut chains like Krispy Kreme Donuts, but Mister Donut is less sweet, which is popular among Japanese people.
My favorite at Mister Donut is the Old Fashion donut.
Ginza Cozy Corner is ranked third.
I didn't see this in the Kansai region, but since coming to Tokyo, I see it a lot.
I see this cake shop, this sweets shop, in many places.
And Chateraise is ranked fifth.
People living in urban areas might not know Chateraise.
In Japan, it's often located in places that can only be reached by car.
It's probably not found in places easily accessible by train.
I've never seen one.
Chateraise has an amazing variety of ice creams.
When I was a child, I really enjoyed looking at the various ice creams.
That's about it.
