How to Use
「としたら/とすれば/とすると」は、現実とは異なる状況を仮定したり、ある状況を仮定して論理的に考えたりするときに使います。「としたら」はやや口語的、「とすれば」は論理的な仮定、「とすると」は仮定に基づく推論を導くときによく使われます。
「たら/れば/と」は単に条件を表しますが、「としたら/とすれば/とすると」は条件を仮定した上で「考える」ときによく使われます。
「としたら/とすれば/とすると」(toshitara/tosureba/tosuruto) is used when making hypothetical assumptions or logical reasoning based on assumptions. "Toshitara" is more colloquial, "tosureba" is used for logical assumptions, and "tosuruto" is used for reasoning based on assumptions.
「たら/れば/と」 simply indicate conditions, while 「としたら/とすれば/とすると」 are often used when "making considerations" based on a hypothetical condition.
Main Uses
1. Setting Up Hypothetical Situations / 仮定的な状況の設定
「三ヶ月休みがあるとしたら、何をしますか」(さんかげつやすみがあるとしたら、なにをしますか)
"If you had a three-month break, what would you do?"
Used for setting up hypothetical scenarios to discuss possibilities
Often used in questions to explore ideas or plans
2. Logical Assumptions / 論理的な仮定
「これが本物だとすれば、相当な価値があるはずです」(これがほんものだとすれば、そうとうなかちがあるはずです)
