How to Use

「ばかり」は、ある特定の行動や物事が過度に、または独占的に行われている状態を表現するときに使います。話者が「度が過ぎている」「それしかしていない」という評価や批判的なニュアンスを込めることが多い表現です。

"Bakari" is used to express that a particular action or thing is being done or occurs excessively or exclusively. It often carries the speaker's evaluation that something is "too much" or "nothing but this," and frequently implies a somewhat critical nuance.

Main Uses

Excessive Actions / 行動の過剰さ

  • 「テレビを見てばかりいる」(テレビをみてばかりいる)

  • "Doing nothing but watching TV"

  • Implies criticism of the exclusive nature of the action

  • Often used by parents about children or in self-reflection

  • Shows concern about lack of variety in activities

  • It also can be 「テレビを 見て ばかり（です）」and「テレビばかり見ている」. The meaning doesn’t change.
