How to Use

「〜に対して」には主に2つの使い方があります：

1) ある対象に向けての態度や行動を表す

2) 対比される2つの事柄を示す

"~ni taishite" has two main uses:

1) to express attitude or action toward something/someone ("toward/to")

2) to show contrast between two things ("in contrast to/versus")

Main Uses

1. Expressing Attitude/Action / 態度・行動の対象

「先生に対して礼儀正しく話します」(せんせいにたいしてれいぎただしくはなします)
"Speak politely to the teacher"
Used when showing how one acts or feels toward someone/something

2. Showing Contrast / 対比

「昼の混雑に対して、夜は空いています。」(ひるのこんざつにたいして、よるはすいています。)
"In contrast to the daytime crowding, it's empty at night."
Used when comparing or contrasting two groups or things

3. Expressing Returns/Results / 結果・見返り

投資に対して高い利益が得られました。(とうしにたいしてたかいりえきがえられました。)
“We received high returns on our investment.”
Used when describing what comes back in return for something
Common in business contexts and when discussing effort and results
