How to Use

「あまり」は、ある感情や状態が極端に強くなってしまい、その結果として（時には予期せぬ）行動や状況が引き起こされることを表現する際に使います。「～するほどの強い気持ち」というニュアンスで使われます。

"Amari" is used to express that an emotion or state becomes so intense that it leads to (sometimes unexpected) actions or situations. It carries the nuance of "feelings/state so strong that it leads to ~".

Main Uses

1. Intense Emotions Leading to Actions / 感情の高ぶりによる行動

「驚きのあまり声も出なかった」(おどろきのあまりこえもでなかった)
"I was so shocked I couldn't even speak"
Often used when emotions overwhelm normal functioning

2. Negative Consequences of Excessive States / 行き過ぎた状態の結果

「急ぐあまり財布を忘れた」(いそぐあまりさいふをわすれた)
"In my rush (because I was in such a hurry), I forgot my wallet"
