How to Use

「たりして」は、あり得そうもない想像や妄想、または冗談めかした予測を軽い調子で表現する際によく使用します。話者の願望や心配を、現実味は薄いと分かっていながらも「もしかして...」と想像を膨らませる時に使います。

"Tari shite" is often used to express far-fetched imaginations, daydreams, or playful predictions in a light-hearted way. While the speaker knows these scenarios are unlikely, they use it to voice their wishes or worries with a "what if..." feeling.

Main Uses

1. Playful Daydreaming / 妄想や想像

  • 「実は王子様だったりして」(じつはおうじさまだったりして)

  • "What if he's actually a prince!"

  • Used for fun, imaginative scenarios

  • Often involves clearly unrealistic situations

2. Half-Joking Predictions / 冗談めいた予測

  • 「宝くじが当たったりして」(たからくじがあたったりして)
